The Half-Hour Health Check: A Build Audit You Can Finish Before Your Next Helltide Ends

Here's a pattern we see every season: a player hits a wall around Pit 60, blames the patch, and rerolls. Nine times out of ten, the build was fine. The setup wasn't.
This audit takes about 30 minutes — roughly one Helltide event — and it catches the mistakes that quietly cost you half your damage.
Step 1: The Synergy Check (5 Minutes)
Open your skill panel and answer one question: does every skill on your bar feed another? Common red flag — a utility skill slotted for mobility that doesn't trigger any of your key passives. If a slot isn't generating resource, proccing a multiplier, or enabling a core loop, it's dead weight.
Step 2: The Aspect Inventory (7 Minutes)
Go through every armor and weapon slot and check three things:
- Is the aspect actually the right one for this build? Copied boards mean copied aspects, and streamer setups often assume gear you don't have.
- Is it in the right slot? Some aspects roll higher on specific gear types. A 50% roll where an 100% roll belongs is a silent nerf.
- Is anything still a low-level legendary? Level 30 aspects on a level 100 character happen more than anyone admits.
Step 3: The Stat Priority Sweep (7 Minutes)
Check your affixes against your build's actual scaling. The classic trap: crit damage stacked on a build that scales with vulnerable or overpower. Also look for the third affix on every piece — most players optimize the first two and let garbage ride on the third.
Step 4: The Paragon Node Audit (8 Minutes)
Don't just check your board — check your path. Are you pathing through filler nodes to reach a legendary node you barely benefit from? Count your damage buckets. If you can't name which nodes feed your main multiplier, that's the wall you've been hitting.
Step 5: The Gut Check (3 Minutes)
Run one content piece — a Nightmare dungeon, a Pit tier you usually clear. If it feels smoother, you found something. If not, note your clear time. That number is your baseline for every future audit.
The Printable Version
Screenshot the five steps above and run them every time you swap builds or hit a progression wall. Thirty minutes, once, beats three weeks of farming on a broken setup.
